OPTIMIZE SERVER PERFORMANCE, STRENGTHEN SECURITY & REDUCE DOWNTIME
Server Monitoring Services
Through our managed server monitoring solutions, we utilize an active-yet-unobtrusive software to track and analyze your server performance around the clock. When a system or function fails to work properly, an alert is generated and our team will immediately investigate the issue. Once we’ve identified the problem, we’ll take steps to fix it — remotely at first, and we’ll escalate our response as necessary.
Our managed IT services cover a full spectrum of technology solutions, including remote monitoring and management of your networks, 24/7 service desk support for users, and business continuity solutions to ensure your company is prepared for any possible disruption.
ONTECH’S 3-STEP APPROACH
Server Monitoring & Management
There are typically two approaches businesses take when it comes to server monitoring and management.
Break/fix: support is called in only in the event that something has gone wrong.
Managed services: a proactive approach to server management where potential issues are dealt with before they become a problem.
Similar to all the IT services we provide, Ontech Systems takes a proactive, consultative approach to server monitoring services.
Step 1) We evaluate your server environment.
Step 2) We understand what level of server management is needed.
Step 3) We define a custom plan to effectively manage your needs and maximize your budget for IT maintenance.
Ontech does not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to server management. This means you have options. Through our server performance monitoring service, we will:
IDENTIFY & ANALYZE
Identify and analyze server “events” for potential problems
Remediate processes or services that fail
Monitor servers, install patches, implement service packs and ensure anti-virus protocols are up to date
Ensure data backups are completed
While server migrations are just a fact of life for any data-dependent business, upgrading your business servers can improve reliability, performance, and reduce costs. A server migration doesn’t have to be cumbersome, but careful planning is absolutely critical for a successful migration. There are several things to keep in mind when it comes to server migration.
On-Site Hardware vs. Cloud Server
CONSIDER YOUR OPTIONS
The good news is there are more server options available today than ever before.
It’s important to take your current and future needs into consideration. For a hardware based solution, you can choose from a Windows or Linux server – both of which there are pros and cons.
Another alternative is an Azure server – this is a cloud-based solution that houses your date securely in the cloud and provides on-demand access to data no matter where you are located. Alternatively, you can choose a hybrid approach.
Whether you choose a hardware or cloud-based server, carefully consider the benefits and limitations of each. For this reason, we highly recommend you contact the Ontech support team before you schedule your server migration or make a final decision.
Take Inventory of Outdated Servers
REDUCE SECURITY RISKS
The simple presence of outdated hardware puts your network at risk. If you need to buy some time, you may be able to extend the warranties on your hardware and software, but this is highly dependent on a number of factors such as the age of your server.
Determine Your Migration Timeline
WHEN TO MAKE THE SWITCH
If your organization is still running Server 2008 or earlier, the time to switch is now as this presents a security risk to your network. If your server is 3 years old, we suggest you look at your options and start thinking about migrating your server.
At 5 years old, it’s time to seriously consider a server upgrade or replacement since older servers are more prone to issues than newer hardware. It is recommended to time your server migration with your slowest time of year (such as the holidays).
Business Continuity Planning
At the heart of server monitoring and management is business continuity – being prepared in the event of a disaster. After all, what good is a server with all the bells and whistles if all your data could be wiped out in a single cyber-attack?
Business continuity planning is a comprehensive approach involving the strategic planning a business puts in place to ensure systems, processes and procedures can still function in the event of a disaster.
In short, business continuity is a proactive step to help you quickly recover from a disaster and get back to business. Ontech can help you understand your options and put a business continuity plan in place if you don’t have one already.
